Muzaffar Iqbal

Muzaffar Iqbal is the president of the Center for Islamic Sciences (established in 2000 as Center for Islam and Science and renamed in 2013). Over the past thirty years, his research and publications have focused on three broad areas within the framework of Muslim encounter with modernity: (i) the impact of this encounter on Muslim self-understanding of their spiritual and intellectual traditions; (ii) the relationship between Islam and science and the role of modern science and technology in the reshaping of the spiritual, intellectual, and social landscape of the Muslim world; and (iii), Qur’anic studies, including Western academic studies on the Qur’an. His books and articles and articles have been translated into Persian, Bahasa Indonesia, Albanian, and Korean. He is the General Editor of the Integrated Encyclopedia of the Qur’an, the first English-language reference work on the Qur’an exclusively based on fourteen centuries of Muslim scholarship. Sherif el-Sayed

Sherif Elsayed is currently the Imam of the Muslim Community of Edmonton Masjid (MCE) in Edmonton. A graduate of Al-Azhar University (2003),he served as Imam with the Ministry of Awqaf in Egypt before moving to the United States in 2008, where he served as an Imam in different masjids. In 2013 Sheikh Sherif came to Edmonton and served as the Imam of the oldest Masjid in North America, the al Rashid Masjid (officially opened on December 12, 1938). In 2016, he took the position of Imam at MCE. His training in Islamic sciences (Qur'an, tafsir, hadith), combined with courses taken in the faculty of translation and languages, give him the ability to present the message of Islam as preserved in the classical texts to a contemporary audience.Imam Sherif is keenly interested in education and upbringing of Muslim children with a sound understanding of Islam and its spiritual and intellectual traditions.

Abuu Khalifa Mohammed

Abuu Khalifa Mohammed is a structural engineer. He has studied Islam in traditional madrasas and is keenly interested in education from an Islamic perspective.
